wont crank
what I gather when you turn the key to start the solenoid clickes in but starter dont go?
OK make sure starter cable on solenoid is tight and same cable has good connection at starter.
also you can take a wire from positive battery post and touch it to the S terminal on the solenoid.
this should also operate it. MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS IN NEUTRAL. this test will make sure the solenoid is working. also make sure ground cable is also ok SHOULD DO THIS FIRST.
tried it
Alright so I tried the wire from positive terminal to the S on the solenoid, and still does the same thing, just clicks. Any other suggestions?

So I found the problem. Wrong size battery, doesn't have enough cranking amps to turn everything over. Thanks for the help!

Not cranking
My 69 will start on a few D cells if everything is right. You might have a bad ground strap or loose ground. It's always worth a look.
I suggest you check the
I suggest you check the battery terminals for corrosion, does the dash light up when turn the ignition on? if not possible bad fusible link at starter? have you checked all the fuses? try tapping on the starter? even if the alternator was bad the engine will crank as long as the battery and starter is fine.
