EFI Conversion

Installing a 5.0/5.8L EFI Engine In an Older Truck

All of the Early Ford Bronco's on the road are at least 20 years old. Many of them driven by motors equally old and with 150,000+ miles. While rebuilding these older motors is certainly an option, a popular alternative is to install a late model, Electronic Fuel Injected motor. These motors are relatively cheap and with modern electronics are incredibly reliable. This guide will help you to install a late model EFI motor into an older truck, with an emphasis on installation in an Early Ford Bronco.

EB Tie Rod Conversion

If you have a 76 - 77 Bronco with the inverted Y tie rod assembly and do any kind of serious off-roading you have probably already bent or spaghettied your tie rod assembly more than once. Tired of straightening the mess out time after time, it only gets worse once it has been bent once. Consider changing back to the T-style steering linkage, it's stronger, doesn't bend as easily and can be reinforced if necessary.

The parts that you will need are as follows:

Power Steering for Early Bronco's

New Reins for Old Broncos

Most of the early Bronco's came without factory power steering. While this provides for a simple, low maintenance steering system, it can make serious rock crawling "interesting". If you own a early Bronco with factory power steering, consider yourself lucky. For those that don't, this article will describe several possible solutions to your steering woes.

Internal Hood Latch In an Early Bronco

  1. Upper and lower hood latch (cable operated) from a Rabbit, Scirocco, Dasher or Fox.

Body Lift Details (1966-1977)

Early Bronco Body Lift !!

Why a body lift? That's a good question. The reason for any kind of lift is travel. Wheel travel that is. There are two basic types of lifts for any truck: body and suspension. While a full discussion is beyond the scope of this Tech Note, we'll quickly go over the basics of getting the most travel from your suspension.
