In order to install a new crush sleeve properly you need to remove the ring
gear which means having to have the entire thing setup. But like he said
talk to a good rearend shop and see what they say.

You need to replace the crush sleeve and torque it to spec. I would not
follow any advice that says you can bypass this step, UNLESS the advice is
to have a rear end shop replace the crush sleeve with a machined spacer.

Just my opinion.

The seal on my 9" leaks around the pinion. Is this something I can
replace, or does it need to go to a shop for appropiate torqueing and
what ever.
